Calcined Petroleum Coke Carburizer 10-20mm

Calcined Petroleum Coke Carburizer 10-20mm
Product Introduction:
This 1020mm calcined petroleum coke carburizer features dense, larger-sized particles with excellent mechanical stability. It dissolves relatively slowly and enables continuous carbon replenishment in large-capacity ladles, effectively suppressing violent bubbling and splashing of the molten bath during feeding. This coarse grade reduces dust loss during mechanized mass feeding and cuts on-site flue gas. Suitable for ladle refining and heavy casting production, it helps metallurgical enterprises stabilize molten steel composition and shorten secondary refining duration.

This 10-20mm calcined petroleum coke carburizer features dense, larger-sized particles with excellent mechanical stability.

This 10-20mm calcined petroleum coke carburizer is produced through controlled high-temperature calcination followed by targeted coarse crushing and classified screening. Its large lumpy form allows rapid settling once charged into the melt and resists thermal fragmentation for a period of time. It dissolves at a moderate pace without causing instantaneous carbon spikes, facilitating gradual fine-tuning of carbon levels in the ladle refining stage. This carburizer is mainly used for ladle furnace refining, heavy steel castings and ferroalloy smelting. It reduces dense flue gas generation in workshops, eases the burden of on-site dust removal, and ensures stable carbon indicators for large-tonnage melt batches.

Dense blocky green coke is selected as the base raw material. After calcination, selective coarse crushing and stepwise classification screening are performed to obtain the target particle size range. Medium and fine by-products from screening are directly diverted to the finished carburizer warehouse and sold as other grades of products. The company's metallurgical process R&D team focuses on the thermal fragmentation resistance of large particles and continuously optimizes crushing and shearing parameters. An independent stockyard for coarse finished products is built within the plant, separated from storage areas for fine materials. Mainline logistics supports bulk supply orders for large steel mills. Besides conventional system certifications, special tests on high-temperature pyrolysis stability are conducted. Physical samples are retained and filed for each batch. For bulk export orders, on-site loading supervision and sampling by customers are available to strictly control the impurity content of large-particle products.

FAQ

Q: When this 10-20mm large-particle carburizer is added for ladle refining, will it settle and accumulate at the bottom, causing locally excessive carbon?

A: Large particles settle rapidly. Dumping all material at once may lead to local accumulation at the ladle bottom. It is recommended to feed in multiple batches along the vortex of molten steel. The stirring of molten steel promotes gradual dissolution, avoiding local carbon enrichment at the bottom and ensuring uniform carbon content across the whole ladle.

Q: When feeding via heavy workshop hoppers, will these hard-edged large particles easily wear the hopper liners?

A: Particles of this grade have relatively hard edges. Long-term continuous conveying accelerates wear of the hopper's wear-resistant liners. It is suggested to install thickened wear plates inside the hopper and control the material drop height to reduce direct impact from hard particles and cut equipment consumption.

Q: During smelting, some particles fail to dissolve completely and form solid inclusions?

A: A small number of large particles may remain undissolved if the molten steel temperature in the ladle is low or stirring time is insufficient. Strictly control tapping temperature of the ladle and ensure adequate stirring time. We can adjust the density of raw materials appropriately according to your working conditions.

Q: When stacking large tonnages, will particles in the lower layer be crushed under pressure and generate substantial fine powder?

A: Materials at the bottom of high stacks bear heavy upper load. Particle edges tend to crack under compression and produce fines. Stacks should not be built too high; low stacking is preferred. Minimize material drop height during transshipment to reduce secondary fine powder generation.

Q: Are there special requirements for unloading equipment for this large-particle grade during bulk loading at terminals? Is it suitable for ocean bulk shipment?

A: Excessively high drop height during bulk handling easily causes chipping and fragmentation. The material fall height must be reduced during terminal unloading. Ocean bulk shipment is feasible, yet vessel vibration during transit will also create secondary fines. If strict limits are imposed on fine powder content, jumbo bag container transport is the more reliable option.
