The storage and transportation of graphite electrodes directly affect product quality, performance, and subsequent processing results. While graphite electrodes possess good high-temperature resistance and chemical stability, the material itself is brittle and has limited impact resistance. They are prone to cracking, chipping, and breakage when subjected to impacts, compression, or uneven loads. Therefore, during storage, graphite electrodes should be placed in a dry, ventilated, and clean indoor environment, avoiding prolonged exposure to rain, humid air, and other contaminants. Different specifications and models of graphite electrodes should be stored separately and clearly labeled to prevent mixing and incorrect specifications. Flat, sturdy support racks or trays should be used for storage to ensure even stress on the electrodes, avoiding direct placement on damp surfaces. For graphite electrodes with threaded joints, the original protective sleeves should be retained to prevent the threads from impact, abrasion, or dust contamination. Simultaneously, the storage area should be kept away from strong oxidizers, corrosive substances, and other chemicals that may affect product quality. The electrode surface and packaging condition should be checked regularly, and any issues such as moisture, damage, or contamination should be addressed promptly.
During transportation, graphite electrodes require special attention to prevent collisions, rolling, crushing, and rain. Before loading, the load-bearing capacity and condition of the transport vehicle should be checked to ensure there are no sharp objects, water, or other debris that could damage the electrodes. Appropriate lifting equipment and specialized lifting tools should be used during loading and unloading, and operations should be carried out according to product weight and packaging requirements. Avoid directly throwing, dragging, or using inappropriate tools to hold the electrodes. For longer or larger diameter graphite electrodes, support points should be properly set to prevent bending or breakage due to uneven stress. When transporting multiple electrodes simultaneously, reliable fixing and isolation measures should be adopted to prevent rolling, collisions, or severe vibrations during vehicle movement. Additional protective measures should be taken for joints and threaded areas to prevent damage to the connection points. Furthermore, sudden braking and severe jolting should be avoided as much as possible during transportation. In rainy or snowy weather, waterproof covering measures should be taken to reduce the risk of packaging moisture and product contamination.
Upon arrival, graphite electrodes should be inspected promptly. Check the packaging for integrity, and inspect the product surface for cracks, missing corners, deformation, or other obvious damage. Verify the electrode specifications, model, quantity, and relevant quality certificates. For products packaged in wooden crates, pallets, or other forms, unpacking and inspection should be conducted under safe conditions to avoid damaging the electrodes or threaded joints during disassembly. If significant damage, moisture absorption, or abnormal packaging is found, it should be recorded immediately, and the supplier should be contacted to confirm the handling method. Graphite electrodes not currently in use should be properly stored according to their original storage requirements, avoiding repeated handling and prolonged exposure to unsuitable environments. Through standardized storage, proper loading and unloading, reliable securing, and thorough inspection upon arrival, losses of graphite electrodes during logistics can be effectively reduced, maintaining their dimensional accuracy and mechanical integrity, thus ensuring their smooth installation and production use.
